Course Description
This course delivers a thorough understanding of the different elements of a home control system as well as how to link components together. Topics discussed in detail include controller types, inputs and outputs, communications standards, user interface standards and the different types of user interfaces. Students learn how to use these elements to network all subsystems of a home including multi-room audio, home theater, communications, security, lighting control, home network, energy management and surge protection. Detailed steps for design, installation and programming, along with testing and troubleshooting, are also presented.
The course is divided into thirteen sections – each section ends with a
quiz, and a comprehensive test at the end of the course allows students to
demonstrate their newfound knowledge of home control systems.
After completion of this course, students are prepared for
hands on, product specific training in a training center or on a job site.
PrerequisitesStudents should be familiar
with the concepts of home automation and
have basic knowledge of control options.
