Helen M. Heneveld

Heneveld is a well-respected and recognized industry expert who speaks and
consults worldwide in the converging home systems industry. She has often been
ahead of her time… in college she earned her varsity letter the first year women
were allowed. She received her MBA at the University of Michigan when only 12%
of the class were female. With her early entry in the 1980’s into the home
automation business she has the knowledge and experience today that makes her an
internationally recognized veteran in the industry.
She founded TALI - a nationally recognized company in integrated
home electronics in 1989. TALI focused entirely on home automation offering
fully integrated systems including: communications wiring, phone/intercom,
multi-room audio, home theatre, lighting control, security, overall control
systems and surge protection. TALI emerged as a national industry leader
offering a single-source/full-service team dedicated to wiring for the future
and providing homeowners with easy to use systems.
In 1997 Helen sold TALI and has been busy ever since sharing her
vast industry knowledge through training and business consulting. She consults
with manufacturers, installation companies, and consumers helping them with
strategic planning, business management, education, and design and project
management in home technologies integration. For several years she was a partner
in The Training Dept., Inc., producing videos and training materials to educate
both installers and consumers about these emerging technologies.
Passionate
about the industry, Heneveld founded Bedrock Learning.com in 2004 to serve the
fast growing industry with effective, convenient and affordable training.
Bedrock Learning, Inc. focuses on the fundamentals with online courses including
structured wiring, home networking, audio/video, home theater, lighting
management and installation business operations. Heneveld’s dedication to
sharing her knowledge continues with several published industry resources
including the industry resource at 870+ pages, HTI+ Home Technology Integrator
and CEDIA Installer 1 All-In-One Exam Guide by McGraw-Hill and a series of Quick
Reference pocket guides including Residential Technology Terms and Definition.
Often in demand, Helen speaks at national conferences on the future of home
technologies. She has presented at CEDIA events – Regional Training, United
States and International EXPOs; Parks FORUM; CES; ISC; NEOCON; CABA; CANASA;
JLCLive!, NSCA; NAHB and Custom Builder Symposium. In addition, Heneveld has
been published in numerous magazines. Heneveld serves on the Board of Directors
of CEA, Tech Home Division. She also has served on the Board of Directors of
CEDIA and for several years as chair of the CEDIA Systems Integration Council,
leading the effort for industry standardization of symbology. Her dedication to
sharing her knowledge continues with speaking engagements, writing and
consulting worldwide in the industry. Helen holds undergraduate and graduate
degrees in Education and an MBA in marketing and computers, all from the
University of Michigan. She also is CEDIA Installer I certified and HTI+
certified from CompTIA. Her prior successful business ownership and experience
in management and computer consulting prepared her to blaze a trail in the new
home technologies industry. She continues to broaden her knowledge and enjoys
sharing her real-world experiences and success with others.
